Meredith D. Clark, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the media studies department at the University of Virginia. She was formerly an assistant professor in the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. A graduate of Florida A&M University (FAMU) and UNC-Chapel Hill, she spent nearly 10 years in newspaper and digital journalism before pursuing a career in academia. She's given talks on Black Twitter at universities including Harvard, Stanford, and UW-Madison and Purdue, and has presented workshops for the New York Times and the Dallas Morning News. She is a former contributor to Poynter.org's diversity column.
