We pride ourselves on putting together one of the premier events in journalism — and the 2018 Online News Association Conference is set to be one for the books! Today we’re excited to share a first look at the program.
ONA18 will inspire you to push boundaries and imagine what’s possible for the future of digital journalism. The conference offers more than 90 sessions over three days, including interactive workshops on areas such as equality in the workplace, audience engagement, revenue, analytics and reporting tools. Join us to discover the latest trends from industry leaders, tackle pressing issues facing journalism and connect with peers to share your work.
As in previous years, much of the program draws from community input through the Suggestion Box, which received more than 400 pitches this year. We’re excited to offer a few other ways you can contribute to the programming:
- Unconference. What did we miss? The unconference is community-driven. Registered participants can propose a conversation on topics we’re not covering elsewhere. Pitches are voted on during ONA18, with successful topics earning a speaking slot on Saturday, Sept. 15.
- Lightning Talks. Submit an idea for a fun, five-minute lightning talk aligned to this year’s theme: What will your audience or community expect from you in 10 years’ time?
- Pitch Showcase. New this year: We’re holding an open call for your wildest, out-of-the-box product ideas for journalism. This concept is for bold ideas — and fun!
