Live streaming choices used to be binary. Media were either in the high-quality, expensive broadcast bucket or the cell-phone-based, “please don’t die on me” live streaming bucket most publishers have experienced. Now, there’s a happy, affordable, and profitable middle.
This Livestream 2.0 session will – in layman’s terms – present six things:
First, it will give an overview of what simulcasting technology does and what it allows publishers to do.
Second, it will show the costs involved and how they compare to older, more expensive methods.
Third, it will show multiple real-world examples broadcasted by the USA Today Network.
Fourth, it will show how these streams can be successfully monetized and the huge value added for potential sponsors. (Publishers and broadcasters can work together on this.)
Fifth, the techy, nerdy stuff. How does the product actually work? Demo time!
Sixth, what the future looks like. 5G, HEVC H.265, and what it all means for you.
Session attendees will walk away with a solid understanding of the technology and the costs involved. A few names of companies and potential solutions (we’re not focusing on just one company) and a few ideas of how it can fit into their newsroom’s workflows.
