Ziva Branstetter is senior editor for Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting, overseeing Reveal’s coverage of immigration and of the workplace.
At Reveal, she is among editors who supervise and mentor journalists of color from other news organizations who are part of a yearlong investigative fellowship program. Branstetter serves on the board of Investigative Reporters and Editors and is a staunch advocate for transparency in government, serving as a plaintiff in numerous open-records lawsuits. She was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 2015 for an investigation of a botched execution. Branstetter came to CIR from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she was the first editor in chief of The Frontier, an investigative newsroom she helped launch. Previously, she led the investigations and enterprise team at the Tulsa World and was a frequent speaker and trainer in Oklahoma, focused on investigative reporting at the local level.
