The City As The City Desk

Successive generations of conglomeration, contraction, disruption and atomization have left serious gaps in local coverage everywhere in the news media. For Detroit and Los Angeles — media-rich centers with divergent but analogous local news deficits — the city itself is stepping into the breach, experimenting with “government journalists.”

This session is designed for

  • Newsrooms interested in understanding how city governments can buttress local coverage
