ONA board member Eric Carvin directs social strategy at AP and is recognized as a leading thinker on social journalism and digital news ethics. Eric oversees AP\u2019s use of social media to uncover breaking news, gather user-generated content and share powerful stories, and guides AP\u2019s journalists in their use of social. He also has a hand in broader strategic and standards decisions related to AP’s digital newsgathering and storytelling. Eric plays a critical role in the fight against misinformation, leading AP\u2019s work with Facebook and others to elevate facts and flag questionable content. Eric has extensive experience with innovative and interactive storytelling and has played a variety of roles during his 18 years at AP, from coordinating the global news report to analyzing exit poll results.
