#Uplift: Let’s build a toolkit to empower women

With #metoo, there’s been an incredible rise in empowering messages, but it’s still often very difficult to connect the dots between something high level and knowing what steps to take to tackle a specific situation. For example, through the ONA Women’s Leadership Accelerator, we learned so many tangible tips we had long sought to get through the day-to-day and very real situations.

For this session, there are so many incredible women that we couldn’t think of a shortlist of speakers, so why don’t we collect as many ideas as we can? This session will be a facilitated workshop to crowdsource practical tips in common tough situations and words of encouragement for the moments when you really need to hear that the most.

Small groups will focus on a hard situation such as being overwhelmed with self doubt, or selling a big proposal you came up with, or how to uplift your and other underrepresented voices in meetings. First they’ll brainstorm as many ideas they can on index cards. Then they’ll group them together, identify patterns, and synthesize them into a set of tips for how to tackle that situation.

Attendees will have a toolkit to face a multitude of situations, It’ll be documented in photos of cards of big takeaways and shared with attendees and on social for others to share with their networks.
